Wi-Fi (802.11a/b/g wireless)

The Motion C5 has integrated Wi-Fi (802.11a/b/g) that you can use to connect to the Internet and other computers wirelessly. You can use Wi-Fi in many schools, hospitals, clinics, airports, and hotels.

Note: Wireless access requires an 802.11a, 802.11b, or 802.11g access point. Internet access requires a working Internet connection.

Your ability to use Wi-Fi depends on several conditions:

Distance from the access point.

Ability to connect to the access point.

Access rights, which may require a user name and password.

Security settings, such as whether the network broadcasts a network name or uses encryption.

For more information, see “Using Wi-Fi (802.11a/b/g)” on page 43.

Bluetooth wireless

The Motion C5 has an integrated Bluetooth adapter. With Bluetooth, computers and other devices—such as mice, keyboards, and PDAs—can be interconnected using a short-range wireless connection. Bluetooth devices can connect wirelessly at distances up to 33 feet (10 meters).

For more information, see “Using Bluetooth” on page 44.

Battery

The Motion C5 includes a high-capacity Lithium-ion battery that fits in to the back of the unit. Under normal conditions, you can run the C5 on battery power for about three hours. You can maximize battery life by optimizing your power scheme. See “Using power management” on page 29.

For information about charging and checking battery status, see “Using the battery” on page 32.

DANGER: To avoid personal injury, handle the battery with care. Do not open, puncture, short, or expose it to fire or water. Keep the battery in an ambient temperature of less than 104°F (40°C). For example, do not leave the battery in a closed car in hot weather for an extended time. For more information, see the Safety and Regulatory Guide packaged with the C5.
