Making and Receiving Phone Calls

2Enter the security code. (See “Security Code” on page 141.) The phone is now unlocked.

Locking the Keypad

Press the Menu key M followed by * to lock the keypad and power key to prevent the phone from being used or turned off. All keys except the Power key P will be disabled. You can still answer an incoming call when the keyboard is locked by pressing Send N or + (ANSWER).

To remove the lock, press the Menu key M followed by *.

You can still place an emergency call when the keypad is locked See “GSM Emergency Calls” on page 41.

Making a Phone Call

To make a phone call, your phone must be switched on and unlocked. It will not be possible to make a phone call unless you are in an area with GSM 900 or 1800 service. When your phone detects service, it displays a series of rising bars, 4, to show the signal strength.

There are a number of different ways to make a phone call:

using the digit keys

using the redial option

redialing a number from the Dialed Calls list
