Using Your Phone’s Menus

The Messages Menu

This menu allows you to adjust the message settings and view or manage the various types of messages your phone can receive and/or send.

Your phone supports three GSM messaging features: SMS, EMS, and Cell Broadcast.

SMS and EMS Messages

The Short Message Service (SMS) allows you to send and receive short text messages.

The Enhanced Message Service (EMS) allows you to send and receive text messages with icons, animations, and ringtones.

Notes:

The recipient’s phone may be unable to display the pictures or play the sounds inserted into your message.

You cannot send messages with pictures or sounds to an email address.

In order to send and receive messages, you need to set up your inbox. See “Message Setup” on page 107. (Your service provider may have already done this for you.)

When a message is received, your phone:

Plays a short alert tone (which can be set on or off in

Profile Setting).

If in idle mode, displays the animated new-message icon.
