3.You must now define the DHCP server “scope”.

2.The left info box of the DHCP Manager window will show a list of DHCP hosts currently hooked up to the network.

Note that before you can make changes to the host’s parameters, there must be a minus sign (–) located to the left of the server name (Local Machine in the example shown below.) If, as shown, there is a plus sign (+) to the left of the server name, use the left mouse button to click on the name of the host until the minus sign appears.

3.You must now define the DHCP server “scope”.

A scope is simply a range of IP addresses that the server assigns to machines as they log onto the network. Since the assignment is dynamic, the IP address assigned to a particular device can change each time the device is logged in. What we will do is use DHCP Manager to set aside a specific IP address that will always be assigned to your NPort Server Pro when it is hooked up to the network. When the device is not hooked up, the reserved IP address is not used.

If you have already defined a scope, continue with step 5 below.

4.To get started, click on DHCP Options and then chose Scope from the pull down menu.
