Custom Mode

TheCustomModeofoperatingNPortServerProallowsforsituationsmorecomplexthanthose mentionedinthetwoprevioussubsections.ThesefunctionsincluderemotecontrolfromanInternet host,settingtheportsonNPortServerProasWANportsforremotecontrol,andaddingcomplicated routingprotocols.Settingupthesetypesofapplicationrequiresmorenetworkknowledge,and possiblyknowledgeabouttheInternetandIntranet.Figure2-4showsacomplexremote-control example.

Inmostcases,ifNPortServerProisusedforremoteaccessorcontrol,youwillneedtocustomizethe servertosuityourneeds.YoucouldbetheadministratorsettingupNPortServerProforother WindowsNT/95/98hosts,oryoucouldbeageneraluserwithaccesstoNPortServerProfrom a remotesite.
