pyramidalm atching Atechnique usedto increase the speed ofa pattern m atching algorithm by
matching subsampled versions of the image and the reference pattern.
Q
quantitativeanalysis Obtaining various measurements of objects in an image.
R
realtime Aproperty of an event or system in which data is processed as it is acquired
insteadof being accumulated and processed at a later time.
relativeaccuracy A measurein LSB of the accuracy of an ADC; it includes all nonlinearity
and quantization errors butdoes not include offsetand gain errors of the
circuitryfeeding the ADC.
removeborder objects
function
Removesblobs in a binary image that touch the image border.
resolution Thenumber of rows and columns of pixels. An image composed of m rows
and n columns has a resolution of m×n.
reversefunction Invertsthe pixel values in an image.
RGB Colorencoding scheme using red, green, and blue (RGB) color information
whereeach pixel in the color image is encoded using 3 2 bits: 8 bits for red,
8 bits for green, 8 bits for blue, and 8 bits for the alpha value (unused).
Roberts filter Extracts the contours (edge detection) in gray level, favoring diagonal
edges.
ROI Regionof interest. (1) An area of the image that is graphically selected
froma window displaying the image. This area can be used to focus further
processing. (2) A hardware-programmable rectangular portion of the
acquisition window.
ROItools Collection of tools that enable you to select a region of interest from an
image. These tools let you select points, lines, annuli, polygons, rectangles,
rotated rectangles, ovals, and freehand open and cl osed contours.
rotationals hift The amount by which one image is rotated with respect to a reference
image. This rotation is computed w ith respect to the center ofthe image.
