Note NI 5102 digitizers use only the easy I/O interface under data acquisition in
LabWindows/CVI.The easy I/O interface provides limited functionality in CVI. To use
the NI 5102 to its full capabilities, use the NI-SCOPE driver as shownin Figure 1-1.
MeasurementStudio contains tools for data acquisition and device control
builton NI-DAQ driver software. Measurement Studio provides a
higher-levelprogramming interface for building virtual instruments with
VisualBasic, Visual C++, and LabWindows/CVI. With Measurement
Studio, you can use all of the configuration tools, resource management
utilities, and interactivecontrol utilities included with NI-DAQ.
LabWindows/CVIfeatures interactive graphics, a state-of-the-art user
interface, and uses the ANSI s tandard C programming language. The
LabWindows/CVIData Acquisition Library, a series of functions for using
LabWindows/CVIwith NI-DAQ hardware, is included with the NI-DAQ
software kit.
Measure is ad ata acquisition and devicecontrol add-in for Microsoft
Excel. With Measure, you can acquire data directly from plug-in DAQ
boards,G PIB tools, or serial (RS-232) devices. Measure has easy-to-use
dialogs for configuringyour measurements. Your data is placed directly
intoExcel worksheet cells, from which you can perform your analysis and
report generation operations.
Using PXI with CompactPCI
NI5 102 (PXI) Only
UsingPXI-compatib le products with standard CompactPCI products is an
importantfeature provided by the PXI Specification, revision 1.0. If you use
aPXI-co mpatible plug-in devicein a standard CompactPCI chassis, you
willbe unable to use PXI-specific functions, but you can still use the basic
plug-in devicefunctions. For example, the PXI trigger bus on your
NI5 102 (PXI) is availablein a PXI chassis butnot in a Compact PCI
chassis.
The CompactPCI specificationpermits vendors to develop sub-buses that
coexistwith the basic PCI interface on the CompactPCI bus. Compatible
operation isnot guaranteed between CompactPCI devices with different
sub-busesnor between Compact PCI deviceswith sub-buses and PXI.
The standard implementation for CompactPCI does not include these
sub-buses.Your NI 5102 (PXI) will work in any standard CompactPCI
chassis.
