What causes high fuel consumption?

Inexperience in catalytic operation can lead to high fuel consumption. Operate the stove with the desired heat output in mind and do not be overly concerned with maintaining light-off.

How can I prevent backpuffing?

Gusts of wind and hot combustor temperatures above 1400o F can cause backpuffing. Install a chimney cap and avoid burning soft, pitchy wood to prevent backpuffing.

Why is the catalytic temperature low?

Low catalytic temperature can be caused by an open bypass or failure to obtain light-off. Follow the manufacturer's operating instructions and close the bypass once light-off temperatures are reached.
