Untuk memfokus menggunakan fokus otomatis dengan pengaturan manual (A/M):

Jika diinginkan, fokus otomatis dapat dialih-kendali dengan memutar cincin fokus lensa sementara tombol pelepas rana ditekan setengah (atau, jika kamera dilengkapi dengan tombol AF‑ON (AF-ON), selama tombol AF‑ON (AF-ON) ditekan); catat bahwa cincin ini harus diputar sedikit sebelum fokus otomatis dialih-kendali. ∞–3 m: Jika subjek Anda akan selalu berada pada jarak paling sedikit 3 m, pilih opsi ini demi pemfokusan lebih cepat.

■Zoom dan Kedalaman Bidang

Sebelum memfokus, putar cincin zoom untuk menyetel panjang fokal dan bingkailah foto. Apabila kamera menawarkan pratinjau jarak fokus (stop turun), kedalaman bidang dapat dipratinjau di jendela bidik (lihat halaman 210 untuk informasi selengkapnya).

Catatan: Catat bahwa indikator jarak fokus dimaksudkan hanya sebagai panduan dan tidak dapat secara tepat menunjukkan jarak ke subjek dan dapat saja, dikarenakan kedalaman dari bidang atau faktor lainnya, tidak dimunculkan ∞ saat kamera difokus pada objek yang jauh.
