About the recording media used by the DS-L1

Usable media

Compact flash card (Type I and II), microdrive (1 GB)

Media formatting

When formatting media in your PC, make sure it is formatted in FAT12, 16 (Sometimes these are expressed simply as FAT.), or in FAT32.

Note that depending on the OS used, you may not be able to select a format. The DS-L1 has a function for formatting media. The media preformatted in NTFS and so forth, that is, formats not supported by the DS-L1, are formatted in FAT16. For details on how to use the formatting function, refer to “2.2.2 Reproducing Images from a CF CardVIEW Menu” in Chapter VI.

NOTE: Media formatted in other than NTFS may not be correctly formatted in

FAT16 depending on the formats used. If so, reformat media in FAT12,

FAT16, or FAT32 on your computer before use.
