AF Area Mode

Rotate the mode dial to A, B, C, Dor iMdbutton MA, B, C, Dor i MAF area mode

You can set how the focus area is determined for autofocus.

	Option	Description
		The camera detects and focuses on
		a face (see “Using Face Detection”
		(A80) for more information).
		If the camera detects multiple
		faces, the camera focuses on the

a Face priority		face closest to the camera.
		When non-human subjects are			1/250	F5.6	840
		photographed, or a subject with
			Focus		area
		which no face can be detected is
		framed, AF area mode is set to
		Auto. The camera automatically selects the focus areas (up to 9)

	Auto	Press the shutter-release button
w		halfway to activate the focus area.

		When the shutter-release button is
		pressed halfway, the focus area
