Problem Cause & solution
The handset does not work.
The handset does not ring.
An alarm tone sounds when I

An alarm tone sounds
continuously while using the
handset.
Static, sound cuts in/out, fades.
Interference from other
electrical units.
The handset stops working
while being used.
I cannot store a telephone
number in the handset memory.
While storing a telephone
number in the handset, it starts
to ring.

The handset beeps
intermittently and/or the
RECHARGE indicator flashes.
I charged the battery fully, but
the RECHARGE indicator
flashes.
I cannot receive documents by
pressing on the handset.

Make sure that the battery is installed correctly (p. 73).
Charge the battery fully (p. 22).
Clean the charge contacts and charge again (p. 22).
The ringer volume is set to off. Press (p. 24).
The handset is too far from the base unit. Move closer and
try again.
Place the handset on the base unit and try again.
The power cord is disconnected. Plug in the power cord.
Quickly move closer to the base unit or the call will be
terminated within 60 seconds.
The power cord is disconnected. Plug in the power cord.
Locate the handset and the base unit away from electrical
appliances.
Move closer to the base unit.
Press to select a clear channel.
Raise the base unit antenna.
Place the handset on the base unit, and disconnect the power
cord to reset the unit. Connect the power cord, and try again.
You cannot store a number while the unit is in the talk or
intercom mode.
Do not pause for over 30 seconds while storing a number.
To answer a call, press . The program will be
canceled. Store the number again.
If the last number dialed was more than 32 digits long, the
number will not be redialed
Charge the battery fully (p. 22).
Clean the charge contacts and charge again (p. 22).
It is time to replace the battery (p. 73).
Press until a single beep is heard.
