LinearPCM (LPCM)/Pulse code
modulation
Thisstands for linear pulse code modulation,
whichis the signal recording system used for
musicCDs and DVDs.
m3u
Playlistscreated using the WINAMPsof t-
warehave a playlist file extension (.m3u).
MP3
MP3is short for MPEG Audio Layer 3. It is an
audiocompression standard set by a working
group(MPEG) of the ISO (International Stan-
dardsOrganization). MP3 is able to compress
audiodata to about 1/10th the level of a con-
ventionaldisc.
MSADPCM
Thisstands for Microsoft adaptive differential
pulsecode modulation, which is the signal re-
cordingsystem used for the multimedia soft-
wareof Microsoft Corporation.
Multi-session
Multi-sessionis a recording method that al-
lowsadditional data to be recorded later.
Whenrecording data on a CD -ROM, CD-R or
CD-RW,etc., all data from beginning to end is
treatedas a single unit or session. Multi-ses-
sionis a method of recording more than 2 ses-
sionson one disc.
Numberof quantization bits
Thenumber of quantization bits is one factor
inthe overall sound quality; the higher the
bit-depth,the better the sound quality. How-
ever,increasing the bit-depth also increases
theamount of data and therefore storage
spacerequired.
OPP
OPPis short for Object Push Profile. This pro-
fileis used for transferring the phonebook
data, schedule data and so on between de-
vicesfeaturing Bluetooth wireless technology.
Packetwrite
Thisis a general term for a method of writing

discs.
SDP
SDPis short for Service Discover y Protocol.
Thisprotocol is to search for available services
andservice charac teristics on other devices
featuringBluetooth wireless technology.
VBR
VBRis short for variable bit rate. Generally
speakingCBR (constant bit rate) is more
widelyused. But by flexibly adjusting the bit
rateaccording to the needs of audio compres-
sion,it is possible to achieve compression-
prioritysound quality.
WAV
WAVis short for waveform. It is a standard
audiofile format for Windows®.
WMA
WMAis short for Windows MediaAudio
