Introduction to Sound Modes

There are three basic sound options: Stereo/ Direct, Standard or Advanced Surround.

Stereo/Direct

When you select STEREO or DIRECT, you will hear the source through just the front left and right speakers (and possibly your subwoofer depending on your speaker settings). Dolby Digital and DTS multi-channel sources are downmixed to stereo.

In STEREO, you’ll hear the audio with your surround settings and you can still use the Midnight, Loudness, and Tone control functions.

With DIRECT, you will bypass all effects and surround settings so that the audio remains as close to the source audio signal as possible.

If you switch on Midnight listening, Loudness, or the Tone controls when DIRECT is selected, the receiver automati- cally switches to STEREO.

Standard mode

The standard mode will decode Dolby Digital, DTS, or Dolby Surround sources automatically. The other surround sound options (next column) can add multi-channel sound to regular stereo sources.

You can identify Dolby Digital software by the

1or marks. Most Dolby Surround software is marked 3, but unmarked software may also incorporate Dolby Surround. Depending on the source, the 6.1 channel setting (page 69), and the sound mode you have selected, you may not get sound from the surround back speakers in your setup. For more on this, refer to the table on the page 56.

Einleitung zu Klangmodi

Es gibt drei grundlegende Klangoptionen: Stereo/Direct, Standard oder Advanced Surround.

Stereo/Direct

Wenn Sie STEREO oder DIRECT wählen, hören Sie die Signalquelle nur aus den Front- Lautsprechern links und rechts (und je nach Ihren Lautsprechereinstellungen möglicherweise aus dem Subwoofer). Dolby Digital und DTS Mehrkanal-Signalquellen werden auf Stereo heruntergemischt.

Bei STEREO werden die Audiosignale entsprechend den Surround-Konfigurations einstellungen wiedergegeben und Sie können nach wie vor Midnight-Hörfunktion, Loudness- Hörfunktion und die Klangfarbenregler- Funktionen einsetzen.

Wenn Sie DIRECT wählen, umgehen die Audiosignale die Klangfarbenregler und Kanalpegel für eine möglichst getreue Wiedergabe einer Signalquelle.

Hinweis

Wenn Sie die Midnight-Hörfunktion, Loudness oder die Klangregler einschalten, während DIRECT gewählt ist, schaltet der Receiver automatisch auf STEREO.

Standardmodi

Der Standardmodus decodiert Dolby Digital-, DTS- oder Dolby Surround-Signalquellen automatisch. Die anderen Surround- Klangoptionen (nächste Spalte) können auch herkömmlichen Stereosignalquellen Mehrkanal- Klang verleihen.

Sie können Dolby Digital-Software an den Logos

1oder erkennen. Der Großteil von Dolby Surround-Software ist mit 3 gekennzeichnet, doch nicht gekennzeichnete Software kann ebenfalls Dolby Surround enthalten. Je nach Signalquelle, Einstellung von 6.1-Kanal(Seite 69) und dem gewählten Klangmodus geben die hinteren Surround- Lautsprecher in Ihrem System möglicherweise keinen Ton aus.
