Flash ( _)/Left button
When the menu isdisplayed onthe LCD
screen, pressing the Leftbutton makes
the cursor shift to the left tab.
When the menu isnot displayed onthe
LCD screen, the Left button operates as
the Flash (_ ) button.

1. Select the desired Recording mode, except forthe [Movie]
mode. (p.23)
2. Press the Flash button until the desired flash mode indicator is
displayed onthe LCD screen(Fill-in, Red-eye Reduction,etc.).
3.Aflash mode indicator will be displayed onthe LCD screen.
Use the correct flash mode tosuit the environment.

Ifyou press the shutter button after selecting the flash,the first
flashfires tocheck the shooting condition (Flash range and
Power ratio of flash). Do not move the camera until the second
flashfires.
• Using the flash frequently will reduce the life of the battery.
• Under normal operating conditions the re-charging time for
the flash is usually within 4 seconds. Ifthe battery is weak, the
charging time will be longer.
• The cameraflash does not operate in the [Movie] and some
Scene modes.
• Take photographs within the flash range.
• The image quality can bedegraded if the subject is too close
or highly reflective.
• When taking an image in poorly lit conditions with the flash,
theremay be a white speck inthe captured image. Thespeck
is caused by the flash light reflecting off atmospheric dust.
