On handling discs
To keep the disc clean, handle tile disc by its
edge. Do not touch the surface.
• Do not stick paper or tape on the disc.
Do not expose the disc to direct sunlight or
heat sources such as hot air ducts, or leave it in
a car parked in direct sunlight as the
temperature may rise considerably inside ttle
car.
• After playing, store the disc in itscase.
On cleaning
• Before playing, clean the disc with acleaning
cloth.
Wipe the disc from the center out.

• Do not use solvents such as benzine, thinner,

commercially availablecleaners, or anti-static

spray intended l\_r vinyl LPs.

This system can only play back astandard
circular disc. Using neither standard nor circular
discs (e.g., card, heart, or star shape) may cause
a mali'uuctinn.
Do not use a disc that has a commercially
available accessory attached, such as a label or
ring.
If you experience any of the l\dlnwiug
difficulties while using d_esystem, use this
troubleshooting guide tohelp remedy the
problem before requesting repairs. Should any
problem persist, consult your nearest Sony
dealer.
Note that if' service personnel changes some
parts during repair, these parts may be retained.
Power
The power is not turned on.
Check that the AC power cord (mains lead) is
connected securely.
• Press I/(_) after"STANDBY" disappears fromthe
front panel display.
If"PROTECTOR" and "PUSH POWER" appear
alternately in the front panel display.
PressI/(_) to turn (711thesystcm_ and check the
R)llowing items after "STANDBY" disappears.
• Are the +md speaker cords short-circuited?
• Are you using only the specified speakers?
• lsanything blocking the ventilation holes of the
system?
Afterchecking the above items and fixing any
problems, turn on the system.If the cause of the
problem cannot be R)und even after checking all the
above items, consult your nearest Sony dealer.
Picture
There is no picture.
• The video connecting cords arc not connected
securely.
• The video connecting cords arc damaged.
• The unit is not connected to the correct TV input
jack (page 19, 30).
• The video input on the TV is not sol sothat you
can view pictures from the system.
• You have set progressive furmat but your TV
cannot accept the signal in progressive furmat. In
this case, return the setting to interlace lbrmat (the
default setting) (page 32).
• Even if your TV is compatible with progressive
format (525p/625p) signals, the image may be
affected when you set progressive format. In this
case, return the setting to interlace lbrmat (the
default setting) (page 32).
• Re-connect the connecting cord securely.
• The unit is connected toan input device that isnot
HDCP (high-bandwidth digital content
