Files cannot be recorded or played back correctly.

If you record and delete files repeatedly for a long time, the files on the recording media may become fragmented and files cannot be recorded or played back correctly. After backing up the files on other media such as a computer, format the recording media on your camcorder. [Details]

The subjects passing across the camcorder very fast appear crooked.

This is called the focal plane phenomenon. This is not a malfunction. Because of the way the image device (CMOS sensor) reads out image signals, the subjects passing by the lens rapidly might appear crooked depending on the shooting conditions.

Horizontal stripes appear on the images.

This occurs when shooting movies under a fluorescent lamp, sodium lamp, or mercury lamp. This is not a malfunction.

LCD brightness cannot be adjusted.

You cannot adjust LCD brightness when using the AC Adaptor (sold separately).

Sound is not recorded correctly.

If you connect or disconnect an external microphone, etc. while recording movies/sound, the sound may not be recorded correctly. The sound will be recorded correctly by restoring the microphone connection at the start of recording.
