Selecting the Digital Audio Output
Each DVD disc has a variety of audio output options. Set the Digital Audio Output of the unit according to the type of audio system you use.
CAUTION
If the AV amplifier is not equipped with a Dolby Digital decoder, do not select “DOLBY DIGITAL/PCM or Stream/ PCM” in the “Digital Audio Output” when connecting the AV amplifier with an optical connecting cord.
Merely attemping to paly a DVD may cause a high level of noise wihch could be harmful to your ears and damage the speakers. In such a case, be sure to select “PCM”.
1 Follow steps 1 and 2 of “Selection of initial settings” on page 40.
The setup menu is displayed.
2 Press X/x to select “Digital Audio
Output”.

Select this when connecting to an AV receiver or other equipment equipped with a Dolby digital
•Stream/PCM
Select this when connecting to an AV receiver or other equipment euipped with a DTS decoder or an MPEG decoder.
•PCM
Select this when connecting to an audio system without a Dolby

To turn off the SETUP Menu
Press RETURN or H(PLAY).
Note
•When this recorder is playing a CD that sampling frequency is 96 kHz, the signal of DIGITAL OPTICAL OUT jack is converted and outputed as 48 kHz. And the signal of ANALOG OUT (L/R) jack is converted as analog signal and outputed as 96 kHz.
