Introduction

The NX-2480 Rainbow/Colour has two emulation modes: Standard/Epson mode and IBM mode.

In the Standard/Epson mode, the printer emulates the Epson LQ-860/850, and can also recognize the graphics commands of NEC 24-wire printers. In IBM mode, the printer emulates the IBM Proprinter X24E. Some addi- tional command codes, which are a superset of these emulations, are also supported.

The emulation can be changed by changing Electronic DIP Switch (EDS) setting Al. When Al is ON, the printer is in Standard/Epson mode; when it is OFF, the printer is in IBM mode (see Chapter 4).

In addition, when EDS switch A2 is ON, the printer can automatically sense which emulation is required and will change emulation as necessary.

This chapter describes the printer’s control commands. Some commands are common to both Standard and IBM modes. All commands will grouped by function. The name of each command is followed by a table like the one below:
