About SQL Remote
SQLRemote is a data-replication technology designed for two-way
replicationbetween a consolidated data server and large numbers of remote
databases,typically including many mobile databases.
SQLRemote replication is message based, and requires no direct
server-to-serverconnection. Anoccasional dial-up or e-mail link is
sufficient.
Administrationand resource requirements at the remote sites are minimal.
Thetime lag between the consolidated and remote databases is configurable,
andcan range from minutes to hours or days.
SybaseSQL Remote technology is provided in two forms:
SQLRemote for Adaptive Server Anywhere Enablesreplication
betweena consolidated Adaptive Server Anywhere database and a large
numberof remote databases.
SQLRemote for Adaptive Server Enterprise Enables replication
betweena consolidated Adaptive Server Enterprise database and a large
numberof remote AdaptiveServer Anywhere databases.
Thisbook describes both of these technologies.
Ina SQL Remote installation, you must have properly licensed SQL Remote
softwareat each participating database.
