Setting up PC ports (DOS)

Parallel port setup

If you are using the printer's parallel port, you should disable timeouts on your computer's parallel port. Disabling timeouts ensures that large ﬁles will print, even if data transmission is slow.

The DOS MODE command is used to disable timeouts on your computer's parallel port. Type this command at the DOS prompt (if LPT1 is not available, use LPT2):

MODE LPT1:,,P > NUL

See your DOS documentation for details on the MODE command.

You may want to add the MODE command to your AUTOEXEC.BAT ﬁle, so that it takes effect every time you turn on your computer.
