Chapter 2 Hardware Installation and Connections

Use the following procedure for this installation scenario.

1Connect the Telco-50 connector end of the cable you want to use for voice and data service to the Telco-50 connector labeled USER on the DSL splitter card’s rear panel.

2Connect the wiring on the other end of the Telco-50 cable to the upper ports of the MDF using a punch-down tool.

3Connect the telephone wiring from the end-user’s DSL and POTS equipment to the lower ports of the MDF.

4Using another Telco-50 cable, connect the CO port on the DSL splitter card to the USER port on the SEC1024 extension card.

5Connect the Telco-50 port on the front of the DSL splitter card to the 1 ~ 24 port on the front of the DSL line card.

6Connect the Telco-50 port on the front of the SEC extension card to the 1 ~ 24 port on the front of the VoIP line card.

2.7Alarm Module

The DB-15 ALARM port is located between the power modules at the top of the front panel. It is used for connecting to alarm input and alarm output terminals on other pieces of equipment.

2.7.1 Installing the Alarm Module

Use the following procedure to install the alarm module in the main chassis.

1Insert the alarm module into the slot, putting it at the top of the slot, and push it in until the alarm module comes into contact with the backplane. The front of the alarm module should be well inside the front panel.

2Use a screwdriver to tighten the alarm module screws.
