d) AC Isolation Transformers

-AC isolation transformers are common devices in electronic repair shops. Technicians use them to isolate the power on their repair benches from physical grounds in the repair shop (pipes, radiators, etc.) This is primarily for safety reasons. The same isolation transformers can be used to electrically isolate the printer from the AC power provided and thus break any ground loops. AC isolation transformers are typically placed in series between the power cord and printer.

-This is a costly solution and the benefits may

not be significant since the ground line will continue to float at the printer side. These devices are not suggested.

F. Related Print Symptoms

If data shift is observed at image edges combined with an image shift then this problem is typically a dirty encoder strip or dirty encoder sensor. Please refer to Technical Bulletin 5 for proper cleaning procedures.
