J. MAINTAINING THE CLEANING ROLLER

The Cleaning Roller removes dust particles from the top of a blank card as it feeds into the printer. Cleaning this roller will help prevent contaminated cards from passing beneath the Printhead, thus extending the PrintheadÕs life and allowing for higher quality output. The Cleaning Roller should be cleaned during every ribbon change or after every 250 prints.

Please note that if you have already cleaned the Card Feed Rollers according to the instructions in Part H of this section, you do not need to complete the following steps since the Cleaning Roller should have also been cleaned as part of that procedure. If additional cleaning is necessary, however, please refer to the following steps

Cleaning Roller

1.Open the Top Cover of the printer by pressing the Cover Release Button.

2.Remove the ribbon.

3.Locate the Cleaning Roller (the black roller next to the first In-Feed Roller on the printerÕs right-hand side).

4.Reach down beneath the Cleaning Roller and lift it up and out of the printer.

5.Once the Cleaning Roller is removed, clean the roller using one of the adhesive- backed Cleaning Cards from the Printer Cleaning Kit. With the cardÕs adhesive backing paper removed, slide the card along the roller until all dust particles are removed. If you do not have a Cleaning Card, use a piece of standard clear adhesive tape. Use the sticky side of the tape to lift dust from the roller.

6.Once all dust is removed from the Cleaning Roller, place it back into the printer, replace the ribbon, and close the printerÕs cover.
