8.2.1 Installing/Removing an accessible 5 ¼-inch drive

ÊShut down the operating system.

ÊSwitch off the server, and disconnect it from the network.

Switching off the server does not disconnect the device from the network. To completely

disconnect the device from the network, remove the power plug from the line voltage.

 

Ê Open the server (see "Opening and closing the server").

ÊDisconnect the cables from the drive (1).

ÊRemove the two fastening screws (2) and take out the drive toward the front (3). The new drive is mounted in reverse order.

If you do not install a new drive, proceed as follows:

ÊMount an EMC insert (a) and a plastic cover (b) in the empty bay (1 + 2).

ÊClose the server again (see "Opening and closing the server").
