Troubleshooting SATA Drives

Troubleshooting SATA Drives

The CDE200 and CDE400 contain SATA drives. When working properly, the CDS detects the SATA drives and reports the number of drives in the system.

In the CDE200, there are twelve 500-GB SATA drives. In the CDE400, there are three SATA controller cards. Each controller card controls a total of 8 SATA drives for a total of 24 SATA drives. The SATA controller cards are located in slots 1, 5, and 6 counting from the right as you are facing the rear of the chassis (see Figure 3-7 on page 3-10).

If the system reports that there is a problem with the SATA drives (such as the drives not being recognized or are being reported as bad), perform the following steps:

Step 1 Reboot the system.

Step 2 Reseat the drive in question (see the “Installing or Removing Disk Drives” section on page 3-9).

Step 3 If the problem persists, replace the drive with a known good drive. If the problem still persists, contact Cisco Technical Support at the following URL:
