This section lists the common problems and possible causes and/or solutions. You may find the answer to your problem here.

Problem	Solution
NO DIAL TONE	! Check the phone connection on both sides of the cable.
	! Ensure the telephone is an Analog line not Digital line.
	! Check the telephone line by connecting a standard telephone,
		listen to the normal house hold dial tone.
	!	Bypass Dial tone detection, add >X3' to theinit string.
Cannot hear	!	Check the computer volume setting.
modem speaker	!	In Terminal Mode send >ATL3M1' command to the modem, this
		will enable modem sound until its connection to a remote
		modem with the highest volume.
The selected COM	!	Disable Auto-receive in the FAX program.
port is either not	! Check the COM Port I/O address and IRQ setting.
supported or is
		Click on: Main Group => Control Panel => Ports => COM x
being used by
		(x=com port 1-4)
other devices.
	! Ensure that only one program is using the modem.
Cannot type >AT=	! Check the IRQ setting in your application program, make sure
in terminal mode.		that it matches the setting from the device driver.
	! Some program may not support IRQ higher than 7.
Failed to connect	! Check your modem choice.
	! Try adding the \N1 as the last command to the init string.
Modem doesn=t fit	! Make sure the computer has Type II or Type III slot.
	! Check the User=s manual for the PC Card=s slot location.
Can=t Send or	!	Ensure you select the right fax Class for the modem
Receive fax		or try selecting fax Class 1 with CTS/RTS (Hardware) flow
		control.
Unreadable	! Check and make sure the communication parameters match the
character on the		remote location, i.g., Data Bit, Parity, Stop Bit
screen
Cannot find	! Use PC Card driver utility >Cardinfo= or >PCMinfo= to make sure
modem		modem is configured.
	! Using MSD to verify that you have an additional COM port after
