Precautions for Paper

Note the following precautions when handling or selecting paper to be used with this printer.

Cautions in loading paper

Important

Do not use paper that is meant for an inkjet printer. Otherwise, it may stick to

the fusing unit and cause a paper misfeed.

 

When printing on an OHP transparency that has a print side, load it with the print side down onto the bypass tray. Otherwise, it may stick to the fusing unit and cause a misfeed.

Use only the recommended paper types. Print quality cannot be guaranteed if other paper types are used. ⇒ P.23 “Paper not supported by this printer”

Do not use paper that is already printed on.

Cautions in storing paper

Paper should always be stored properly. Improperly stored paper might result in poor print quality, paper misfeeds, or printer damage.

Follow the precautions below.

Avoid storing paper in humid areas.

Avoid exposing paper to direct sunlight.

Store on a flat surface.

Keep open reams of paper in the package in which the paper came.

Paper types and cautions

Plain paper

The standard tray can hold up to 250 sheets. *1

The bypass tray can hold up to 50 sheets. *1

The Paper Feed Unit Type305 (option) can hold up to 500 sheets. *1

*1 : Based on paper that is 80 g/m2 (metric version), 20 lb (inch version) in weight.

• If paper is curled or bent, correct it before loading.

Note

To get the best print quality, we recommend you use paper exclusively de- signed for color copier.
