Troubleshooting

Replacing the Photoconductor Unit

The message shown below indicates that the photoconductor unit is ap- proaching the end of its life.

REPLACE PCU

You can still continue to use the cur-

rent photoconductor unit if you are

satisfied with the quality of the out-

4

put being produced by the printer.

When the printed image starts look- ing soiled (horizontal lines along the edges of the page, for example), re- place the photoconductor unit as soon as possible.

RWARNING:

Do not incinerate the photo- conductor unit. Toner dust might ignite when exposed to an open flame.

Disposal can take place at our authorized dealer or at appro- priate collection sites.

If you dispose the used photo- conductor unit yourself, dis- pose of it according to your local regulations.

RCAUTION:

When accessing the inside of the machine, do not touch any sec- tions other than those specified in this manual. If you do, it might result in receiving a burn or inju- ry.

Important

Exposing the photoconductor unit to light for too long can reduce its

performance. Replace the unit as quickly as possible.

Note

Before removing the photoconduc- tor unit from the printer, spread paper or some other material around the area you are working to keep toner from making floor dirty.

The “REPLACE PCU” message is based on a printed page counter kept internally by the printer. It is meant as a general guide to photo- conductor unit life only. Actual photoconductor unit life depends on the printing conditions.

ARemove the new photoconductor unit from the box.

BRemove the protective sheet by pulling the red tab from the new photoconductor unit.
