Troubleshooting

Many common problems have simple solutions. Check quickly through the following list before calling for service.

Symptom

Possible Cause/Solution

 

 

Nothing appears on the window when the power switch

• Is the machine plugged in ?

is turned on.

• Does the wall outlet have power ?

 

• Is the wall outlet on a switch that is turned off ?

 

 

The unit does not receive faxes.

• Is the RECEIVE MODE indicator lit ?

 

• Make sure the cover is closed securely.

 

• Make sure the handset is in the cradle.

 

 

 

Receiving fails after you press [START/COPY].

Did you hang up the handset before pressing [START/COPY] ?

 

 

The unit does not send faxes.

• Are documents properly loaded, and face down ?

 

Did you hang up the handset before pressing [START/COPY] ?

 

 

Received faxes are dirty or hard to read.

• Poor original or dirty scanning glass on sending machine.

 

 

The unit does not make copies.

• Are documents properly loaded, and face down ?

 

 

You get no dial tone.

• Is the telephone line cord connected properly?

 

 

Connect the cord to the TEL. LINE jack.

 

• Make sure the power switch is ON.

 

• Is the handset curl cord connected properly?

 

 

Automatic Document Feeder does not work properly, so

• Make sure the document tray is properly installed.

2 or more sheets feed simultaneously.

• ADF rubber is dirty. Clean it (see page 45). If you still have problem on the

 

 

automatic feeding, replace it with new one.
