Making/Answering Calls

Making/answering another outside call during a conversation

If you hear beeps during a conversation and another line indicator flashes rapidly, an incoming call is being received. You can answer the 2nd call while holding the 1st call.

1Press {HOLD} to put the 1st call on hold.

L The line indicator flashes.

L If you press the other line button before pressing {HOLD}, the 1st call is disconnected.

2To answer a 2nd call, press the relevant line button.

To make a 2nd call, press the other line button or {SP-PHONE}, then dial the phone number.

L The other line indicator lights.

3To return to the 1st call, press the line button for the 1st call.

L The 2nd call is disconnected.

L To hold the 2nd call in step 3, press

{HOLD} before pressing the line button for the 1st call.

Note:

LWhen the Do Not Disturb (DND) feature is turned on, beeps will not be heard during a conversation.

LTo establish a conference call, see “Conference calls” on page 38.

Useful features during a call

Call privacy

Call privacy allows you to prevent other extensions from joining your conversations with outside callers. The phone always keeps call privacy on unless you manually turn this feature off.

Call privacy release

During the call, press the line button for the call. You will hear a double-beep. LAny system phones can join the call

by pressing the relevant line button.

Call privacy release recover

Press the line button again during the call. You will hear a 3-beep.

Note:

LCall privacy will turn on again automatically when you hang up.

LIf a non-system phone is connected on the same line, this feature does not work for the phone.

LWhen a non-system phone answers a call, any system phones can join the call by pressing the relevant line button.

HOLD button

This feature allows you to put a call on hold (for an outside call only).

To put a call on hold

During an outside call, press {HOLD}. LThe line indicator flashes.

LIf using the handset, you can place it on the cradle.

LTo transfer the call to another extension, see “Transferring calls” on page 37.
