Step 2. If Necessary, Set Switches or Jumpers on Your Card

If you have an HP J3112A Token Ring print server, you must set the Data Rate switches on the card to either 4 Mbps or 16 Mbps. The selection depends on the data rate of your Token Ring network.

4 Mbps

16 Mbps

a.Locate the Token Ring card Data Rate switches.

b.Set the switches to 4 or 16 Mbps. The default is 16 Mbps.

If you have an HP J3113A 10/100Base-TX print server, verify that jumper P1 is in the “AUTO” (Autonegotiation) position. This is the default position. (In this position, the card will attempt to automatically connect to the network at the detected speed (10 or 100 Mbps) and communication mode (Full or Half Duplex).)

P1 = AUTO

10/100; Half/Full

Autonegotiation

Note

For the definition of other jumper settings on the

10/100Base-TX card, see appendix A.
