The appliance must be isolated from the gas supply piping system by closing its in- dividual manual shutoff valve during any pressure testing of the gas supply piping system at test pressures equal to or less than ½ PSI (3.45 kPa, 13.84 inches W.C.)

All connections must be sealed with a joint compound suitable for the gas being used and all connections must be tested with a solution of soapy water before light- ing any pilots.

The size of the gas line used for installation is very important. If the line is too small, the gas pressure at the burner manifold will be low. This may cause slow recovery and delayed ignition. The incoming gas supply line should be a minimum of 1½” (38 mm) in diameter. Refer to the chart below for the minimum sizes of connection piping.
