This appendix pertains to the installation of the optional NAS (SCSI Connected Storage Device or “SAN”) unit.

Preliminary Setup Procedures

Unpack the Unit from the Carton

Inspect the packaging container for evidence of mishandling during transit. If the packag- ing container is damaged, photograph it for reference.

Carefully unpack the unit from the carton and verify that all accessories are included. Save all packing materials in the event that the unit needs to be returned to 8e6 Tech- nologies.

The carton should contain the following items:

•1 Nexsan Technologies unit

•1 Mounting Kit

•1 Accessory Kit containing:

•2 AC Power Cords

•1 Ultra SCSI 160 cable

Other Required Installation Items

In addition to the contents of the Nexsan carton, you will need the following items to install the storage device:

•1 Standard CAT-5E cable

•1 CAT-5E crossover cable (from the ER server carton)

Inspect the unit and accessories for damage. If the contents appear damaged, file a damage claim with the carrier immediately.

NOTE: Refer to the ER safety precautions. In addition to being applicable to the ER, this information also applies to this storage device unit.
