An older protocol that allows
you to connect ATM nodes using
PVCs (also known as null
encapsulation).
VCC
Virtual Channel Connection. A
joining of virtual channel links
between two endpoints where
higher layer protocols are
accessed. By definition, ATM cell
sequence must be preserved
over a VCC.
VCI/VPI
Virtual Channel Identifier/
Virtual Path Identifier. ATM
addressing information. An
identifying value found in the
header of each ATM cell.
VLAN
Virtual LAN. A logical collection
of member endpoints and
network devices grouped
together in secure, autonomous
domain. Membership in a
VLAN is not restricted by
physical location. VLANs in
ATM networks may be built
upon emulated LANs.
VPC
Virtual Path Connection. A
joining of virtual path links
between two points in which the
VCI values are either reassigned
or terminated. Several VCCs
may be bundled into one VPC.
