Inserting the PowerBook Duo into

the Duo Dock

1. Shut down the PowerBook Duo by choosing Shut Down

from the Special menu.

2. Close the display.

3. Open the door that covers the docking connector on

the back panel of the computer.

4. If the elevation feet are down, flip them up.

5. Hold the computer with its latch toward you, and slide

it into the Duo Dock as shown.

Don’t force the computer into the dock. When the computer

is in most of the way, the dock pulls it in the rest of the way.

Trouble?

nThe dock won’t accept the computer.

Power to the dock may be off. Make sure the dock is plugged

in. If it is plugged into a power strip, make sure the power

strip is turned on.

The docking connector may not be accessible. Make sure you

have opened the connector door on the back panel of the

computer.

The dock may be locked. Unlock it by turning the key to the

horizontal (unlocked) position, and insert the computer

again.

You can use only the PowerBook Duo with the Duo Dock.

Other PowerBook models cannot be docked.

nThe dock ejects the computer.

The computer may not be shut down. Open the display,

respond to any messages on the screen, and choose Shut

Down from the Special menu. Then wait a moment to make

sure the computer is really shut down, close the display, and

try again.

The computer just stopped. The computer exhibits odd behavior, such as many unexplained system failures. Power The battery is draining too fast. The battery cant be recharged. You just cleaned the trackball, and it feels worse than before. Memory A not enough memory message appears when you try to open a program. Virtual memory is supposed to be on, but its off. The Duo Dock You cant insert the computer into the dock. You cant turn on the docked computer. The computer is on but the monitor is blank. You cant eject the computer from the dock. The Duo MiniDock SCSI devices You cant turn on the computer after connecting a SCSI device. The computer doesnt recognize your SCSI devices. Disk drives and disks The har d disk keeps stopping and starting again. The har d disk is full. The icon of a floppy disk doesnt appear on the screen. You cant eject a disk from a floppy disk drive. A message says that a disk is not initializedbut you know that it is. You cant delete a file. You cant save or copy files onto a floppy disk. Modems The external modem doesnt work. The internal modem doesnt work. Printers Your computer cant find the printer. The network printer keeps restarting. Nothing happens, or you see an error message, when you try to print.
