Through a local terminal or a comput erth at has a terminal emulation program connect ed to
the console po rt of the console server with session setti ngs of 9600, 8, N and 1, with no
flow control.
After the console server is connected to the network and h asan IP address,i t can be
accessed by one o f the following methods:
An SSH or Telnet cli ent on a remote computer (if the SSH or Telnet protocol is
enabled in the select ed Security Profile)
With the Web Mana ger - Overview - Applia nce Session but ton
With DSView 3 management software

Administrators have full access to the CLI and to connect ed devices. An administrator can
authorize regular users to access ports, manage power, manage dat a bufferstorage an d use one
or more console server administrati on tools. Users can a lways change th eir own passwords.
To startthe CLI:
1. Access the CLI through the consol e port, with Telnet, SSH or through the web manager.
2. Enter the username and password at the prompt. The cl i-> prompt appears.

Configuration Tas ks Performed W ith the CLI

The navigation structure of the CLI mirrors that of the web manager. Op tions and parameters
are also the same, except that spaces in web manager options and parameters are replaced wi th
underscores (_),as in : system_tools. Examples that show how to select an op tion in the web
manager use a dash surround ed by two sp aces ( - ). In the CLI, two similar o ptions in a path are
separated by a forward slash (/).
