Connect to a De vice Console Connected to a Serial Port
The following procedure is an example of how an ad ministrator ora n authorized user can
connect to a dev ice console when thede vice is connected t o a port that is enab led and
configured with theCAS Profile.
To connectto a device console connectedto a serial port:
NOTE: Theserial port must already be configured and ena bledpr ior to thispr ocedure. See Port Configuration

1. Log into the CLI and enter cd access to n avigate to the Access level.

2. Enter connect <serial_port_name>. If authenti cation is config ured for the port, the
Password prompt appears when sing le sign-on is disabled .
--:- access cli-> connect 77-77-70-p-2

NOTE: Theconnect command above shows a connection to a port that has an aliasof 7 7-77-70-p- 2.
3. Ifp rompted, enter the password for the port. The following promptap pears.
Type the hot key to suspend the connection: <CTRL>z
4. PressEnter to co ntinue. You are connected to the dev ice that is connected to the port. The
window shows the i nitial display for the devi ce (usually a console banner and lo gin
prompt). An example is show n below.

Accessing Serial Ports using t s_menu
The ts_menu is an application to facil itate connection to the serial po rts.It display sa menu
showing the server names connected to the serial ports of the console server. You must
configure the login p rofile forth e group that the users belong to asts_menu .
