The Cyclades™ ACS 6000 adva nced console server is a 1U appliance t hat serves as a single
point for access and administration of con nected devices, such as target device consoles, modems
and power devices. Console servers support secure remote data center management and ou t-of-
band management of IT assets froman y location w orldwide.
On console servers, administration can b e performedand connected devi ces can be accessed with
the Command Line Interface (CLI) utility, with th e web manager or with DSView3
management software (version 3.5.1 and greater). Multiple users and administrators can be logg ed
into the console server and co nnected to ports at the same time.
This guide describes how to access and navi gate the CLI utility and how to use it after the
console server has been installed and assigned a n IPaddress. For information on how to in stall or
operate your console server using th e web manager, see the Cyclades ACS 6000
Installation/Admin istration/User Guide.
The console ports o f servers,ex ternal modems or power di stribution unit s (PDUs) can be
connected to serial ports on the conso le server.Supported PDU sin clude Avocent
PM1000/2000/3 000s, Cyclades PM IPDUs, Avo cent SPC power devices and Server Technology
CDUs. Either a PDU or an external modem can be con nected to the AUX/M odem port if the port
is not factory-configured for an internal modem.
