Ergonomics is a big word for the study of how to make things comfortable and easy to use, and to reduce injuries. Your NOOK was designed with you and reading in mind.

The best advice we can give is to find what is comfortable for you.

Reading must be a comfortable activity. With your NOOK, it will be. If one reading position is not comfortable, try a different one. Balance your NOOK differently. Place your hands differently. Press the Next Page and Previous Page buttons differently. We are quite sure that some of the ergonomic suggestions that follow will work for you.

Holding your NOOK

Hold your NOOK so it is balanced well and does not feel top-heavy. You can change the balance of your NOOK by moving your hands further up or holding your NOOK in a more vertical position. You probably will want to hold it with both hands. If you hold it with one hand, rest that hand or arm on something, for example, your leg.

One way of holding your NOOK is shown in this drawing. The person shown is right-handed, and she is holding her NOOK with the left hand further up the side, for balance, and the right hand closer to the bottom, to easily press the Next Page button on the right side of your NOOK.
