File-Access and Security Considerations

The VFS controls access to files through normal Guardian security mechanisms. Each FTAM association has a Compaq user ID associated with it. This user ID can assume two values, depending on whether the initiator-identity parameter is supplied in the F- INITIALIZE request primitive. If the initiator-identity parameter is supplied, this parameter provides the user ID value. If the initiator-identity parameter is omitted, the user ID becomes the default user configured via the DEFUSER attribute for the VFS profile used by the responder. In either case, the password can be used. The filestore- password parameter of the F-INITIALIZE request primitive supplies the password used to authenticate the initiator identity.
