Link Verification Service Aid
The Link Verificationservice aid helps you determine:
vWhich devices are connected to the SSAloop
vWhere an SSAloop has been broken
vThe status of the disk drives on that SSAloop
vThe location of enclosure faults that have been detected by the disk drives on that
SSAloop
Touse the Link Verification service aid:
1. Select Link Verificationfrom the SSA Service Aids menu (see “Starting the SSA
ServiceAids”on page 376). The Link Verification adapter menu is displayed:

Move cursor onto selection, then press <Enter>.

2. Select the adapter that you want to test.
The columns of information displayed on the screen have the following meanings:
vThe first column shows the adapter name. The format of the adapter name is:
systemname:adaptername (for example, nunu:ssa0)
where:
systemname is the name of the using system that contains the SSAadapter.
adaptername is the adapter resource identifier.
vThe second column shows the adapter location code (for example, 04-02).
vThe third column shows the description of the adapter (for example, IBM SSA 160
SerialRAID Adapter).
Note: If the adapter name is longer than the description field, the name is
shortened, as shown in the screen above.
