Troubleshooting Steps

Checkthefollowingitemsbeforecontactingtechnicalsupport.
1. Ifwirelessclientscannotaccessthenetwork,checkthefollowing:
a. BesuretheaccesspointandthewirelessclientsareconfiguredwiththesameServiceSet
ID(SSID).
b. Ifauthenticationorencryptionareenabled,ensurethatthewirelessclientsareproperly
configuredwiththeappropriateauthenticationorencryptionkeys.
c. IfauthenticationisbeingperformedthroughaRADIUSserver,ensurethattheclientsare
properlyconfiguredontheRADIUSserver.
d. IfauthenticationisbeingperformedthroughIEEE802.1x,besurethewirelessusershave
installedandproperlyconfigured802.1xclientsoftware.
e. IfMACaddressfilteringisenabled,besuretheclient’saddressisincludedinthelocal
filteringdatabaseorontheRADIUSserverdatabase.
f. Ifthewirelessclientsareroamingbetweenaccesspoints,makesurethatalltheaccess
pointsandwirelessdevicesintheExtendedServiceSet(ESS)areconfiguredtothesame
SSID,andauthenticationmethod.
2. IftheaccesspointcannotbeconfiguredusingTelne t,aWebbrowser,orSNMPsoftware:
a. BesuretohaveconfiguredtheaccesspointwithavalidIPaddress,subnetmaskand
defaultgateway.
b. IfVLANsareenabledontheaccesspoint,themanagementstationshouldbeconfigured
tosendtaggedframeswithaVLANIDthatmatchestheaccesspoint’snativeVLAN.
However,tomanagetheaccesspointfromawirelessclient,theAPManagementFilter
shouldbedisabled.RefertotheRoamAboutAccessPoint3000ConfigurationGuideformore
information.
c. CheckthatyouhaveavalidnetworkconnectiontotheaccesspointandthattheEthernet
portorthewirelessinterfacethatyouareusinghasnotbeendisabled.
d. IfyouareconnectingtotheaccesspointthroughthewiredEthernetinterface,checkthe
networkcablingbetweenthemanagementstationandtheaccesspoint.Ifyouare
connectingtotheaccesspointfromawirelessclient,ensurethatyouhaveavalid
connectiontotheaccesspoint.
e. IfyoucannotconnectusingTelne t,youmayhaveexceededthemaximumnumberof
concurrentTelne tsessionspermitted(forexample,foursessions).Tryconnectingagainat
alatertime.
