Remote

Configuration and

Control

This section describes the connections through which the DSC can be configured and controlled remotely via SIS commands and describes the commands that are available. Topics include:

SIS Commands

Windows-based Control Program

The DSC can be configured and controlled via a host computer or other device (such as a control system) attached to the rear panel RS-232 connector or the front panel USB port. Control is made using the Extron Simple Instruction Set (SIS) of commands.

Commands can be entered using a Telnet application such as the Extron DataViewer, available at www.extron.com. See the DataViewer Help file for use.

The scaler uses a protocol of 9600 baud, 1 stop bit, no parity, and no flow control.

SIS Commands

SIS commands consist of one or more characters per field. No special characters are required to begin or end a command sequence. When the DSC determines that a command is valid, it executes the command and sends a response to the host device. All responses from the scaler to the host end with a carriage return and a line feed (CR/LF = ]), indicating the end of the response character string (one or more characters).

Copyright Information

The DSC sends the following copyright message upon connection to the host (it displays on your computer screen only with an RS-232 connection):

] (c) Copyright 20nn, Extron Electronics, DSC XX-XXA, Vn.nn, 60-130n-01]
