Character Set
A collection of characters.
Command
An instruction that tells the printer to perform a certain function. Commands
are sent from the host co mputer to the printer via the interface cable when
the printer is on line.
Commercial
A paper size of 8.3" x 10.6" (210 mm x 270 mm).
Concurrent In terfaces
Interface ports that are all active simultaneously, giving you the ability to
print to all three ports conc urrently rather than be restricte d to one. See

Configuration
The process of specifying certain settings to allow your computer and
printer to communicate properly. For example, interface s election (serial or
parallel) is part of printe r configuration. A DOS-based PC is configured
through DOS mode command s in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file.
Connector
A coupler used to join a cable to a device or to ano ther cable. Connectors
are identified as male or female. A male connector has one or more
exposed pins or prongs. A female connector has one or more recep tacles
designed to accept the pins on the male connector.
Connector Box
A piece of equipment consisti ng of a small box with a bui lt-in cable that
links the printer to the LocalTalk cable system.
Consumables
Supplies, such as paper, tra nsparencies, and toner.
Controller
The software that controls the engine of a printer. The controller is the
“intelligence” of the printer.
