Start-up Page
A page generated automatically when you t urn on the printer. It gives limited
information on the printer, i ncluding its name, the numb er of pages printed
to date, current interface settings, and the amount of RAM available.
Status Pa ge
One or more pages listing pr inter identification information a nd settings,
current memory configuration, timeout values, communication settings and
input buffer sizes, and the available fonts. This page is requested through
the Administration/Special Pages menu.
Status Pa ge Key
When the printer is on line and idle, this key prints a status page which
shows the printer's current st atus and configuration, including available
paper sizes and installed fonts. When the printer is off line, this key is
intended to be used by the QMS Service Engineer only.
Stroke Weight
The thickness of the elements of a character or symbol in a font. Light,
medium, bold, black, and condensed are names of different st roke weights.
Symbol Se t
A unique subgrouping of all the available charac ters in a font. Each symbol
set is defined with specific application in mind. For example, the math
symbol set includes special characters use d in mathematical and scientific
applications.
System Administrato r
The person in charge of operating a network. Also called a network
administrator.
TCP/IP
An acronym for Transmission Control Protocol/ Internet Protocol, a software
protocol developed by the Depar tment of Defense for communicat ion
between computers.
Timeout
The expiration of a predefined int erval which then triggers some action such
as a disconnection that occur s following 30 seconds without any data
activity (in a 30-second, no-act ivity timeout). Timeout also refers to the
