Header Page
A special page printed befor e a print job that identifies the job and helps
users sort out the jobs in the printer's output tray. Header pages contain
the following information: printer name, selected interface, job
identification, title, submitting computer, job owner, routing message, start
time, application used, creation time, copyright date, versi on number, job
submission time, job start time, number of sheets printed, and printer
product name/logo. The header pag e also lists any specified DOC
commands. See the

Heap
A portion of memory reserved for a pr ogram to use for temporary storage.
Host Computer
The computer to which a pr inter is connected.
Icon
A pictorial symbol indicating a printer , microcomputer, or software function.
Imageable Area
The maximum area on a sheet of printing media capable of being printed
on. It is subject to both hardware limits (the physical page size and the
margins required by the printer engine) and software constraints (the
amount of memory available for the full-page frame buffer).
imPRESS
A QMS proprietary page description language.
Interface
The place where two devices are physically connected, allowing them to
communicate.
Interface Cable
A special cable used to connec t a printer to a comput er so they can
communicate.
Interface Card
Internal hardware used to link a workstat ion or printer physically to a LAN
cable. Interface cards are currently available for DECnet, TCP/IP, Novell
