Mounting Options

The ProCurve Secure Router may be installed in a tabletop or 19-inch rackmount configuration. The following section provides step-by-step instructions for rack mounting.

Rack Mounting ProCurve Secure Router

The ProCurve Secure Router is housed in a 1U-high, rack-mountable chassis which can be installed in

19-inch equipment racks. Follow these steps to mount the ProCurve Secure Router in a rack:

1Position the ProCurve Secure Router in a stationary equipment rack. This unit occupies 1U of space. To allow proper grounding, scrape the paint from the rack around the mounting holes where the ProCurve Secure Router will be positioned. See the section Grounding the Router.

2Using the rack mounting hardware supplied with your router, have an assistant hold the unit in position as you install two mounting bolts through the unit’s brackets and into the equipment rack.

3Proceed to the steps given in Grounding the Router (below) and in Supplying Power to the Unit on page 41.

Caution

Be careful not to compromise the stability of the equipment mounting rack when installing

 

this product.

 

 

Grounding the Router

The supplemental equipment grounding terminal is located on the rear panel of the

 

 

ProCurve Secure Router.

 

 

 

Follow these steps to ground the ProCurve Secure Router:

1Strip one end of the ground wire to the length required for the ring terminal. (Ground wire and ring terminal are supplied by the user.)

2Crimp the ground wire to the ring terminal, using a crimp tool of the appropriate size.

3Attach the ring terminal to the chassis as shown in Figure 18 on page 38. A 6/32 x 1/4 inch screw and a washer are provided next to the AC inlet receptacle for connection to a reliable ground.

4Connect the other end of the ground wire to a suitable grounding point at your site.
