6.13Removing a Virtual Copy

NOTE: A virtual copy cannot be removed if it is mounted to a host server.

To remove a virtual copy from the InServ Storage Server and the Recovery Manager repository, the virtual copy timestamp must have a status of Available.

To remove a virtual copy, in the node tree, right-click the virtual copy timestamp node and select Remove.

Result: The virtual copy is removed from both InServ storage server and the Recovery Manager repository.

If, when backing up a virtual copy, the Remove Virtual Copy from InServ after NBU backup option was selected, the virtual copy only exists in the Recovery Manager repository for restore purposes. In this case, the virtual copy will have a status of Removed.

To remove the virtual copy from the Recovery Manager repository, in the node tree, right- click the virtual copy timestamp node and select Remove Backup.

Result: The virtual copy is removed from the Recovery Manager repository.

WARNING: If a virtual copy is removed from the InServ Storage Server during a backup operation and then deleted from the Recovery Manager repository before a restore operation has taken place, all data is lost and you cannot recover the storage group.
