GLOSSARY

10BASE-T

The IEEE 802.3 standard for a 10 Mbps baseband network on twisted-pair cable.

100BASE-T

The IEEE 802.3 standard for a 100 Mbps baseband network over twisted-pair cable.

100BASE-TX

The IEEE 802.3 standard for a 100 Mbps baseband network over two-pair Category 5 UTP or STP wire.

10/100 auto-negotiation (NWay)

Signaling scheme that allows the adapter and the hub to negotiate between 10BASE-T and 100BASE-T, and automatically select the highest performance level supported by both devices.

dRMON

Distributed RMON. The 3C905B-TX adapter SmartAgent intelligent agents collect remote management information and send it to the Transcend Edge Monitor System to provide full RMON network management in switched and Fast Ethernet networks.

DynamicAccess software

3Com proprietary technology that optimizes network performance. DynamicAccess features include PACE Interactive Access technology, dRMON (distributed RMON) support, Efficient Multicast Control, and support for PACE real-time and multimedia class of service applications.
